Minerva Development has started work on the construction of a new omnichannel distribution centre for Scotch & Soda at De President business park. On a plot of almost 23,000 m2, Minerva Development is developing a state-of-the-art warehouse with approximately 20,000 m2 of floorspace. Designed by Dedato Architecten and constructed by Dijkham Bouw, the warehouse is scheduled for completion in April 2022.
Fashion company Scotch & Soda will be expanding its activities at the new building at John Henry Wiltonlaan at De President 1.2 in Hoofddorp, while retaining its existing branch at the adjacent business park De President 1.1. The new building will have 16 loading docks, an office of 1,200 m2 and a full basement offering parking space for 100 cars. The all-electric building has been designed to fulfil the highest ambitions for sustainability. This is evident not only on the inside, but also from the green terraces on either side of the logistics centre.
Rob de Groot, Minerva Development BV, says: “The building will be modern, aesthetically outstanding, and sustainable. The design includes a lot of greenery on the outside of the building.” On the north side, the façade will be largely covered by columns of planting. The recesses in the west side will feature plants in containers. “The high-quality design and the attractive greenery will be a good match with Scotch & Soda, the future user of the building.”
As well as contributing to biodiversity and sustainable energy use, a key objective in developing the building is to create to a pleasant, safe and healthy working environment for the staff of the Dutch fashion brand, De Groot says. Use and compliance with the so-called WELL GOLD certificate will play an important role. “Obviously, the entire building will be built and used sustainably, but WELL specifically focuses on the users’ health and well-being.”
Eelco Kienhuis, Sales Manager at SADC, adds: “We are extremely proud that we have been able to realise this project so quickly – everyone involved has given it their all. Minerva’s energy and ambitions are entirely in line with those of SADC, which has made it easy to achieve this wonderful development. The building reflects the vision of the future, meets the high standards for sustainability, and is a real eye-catcher at the new entrance of De President’s phase 1.2.”
