On Friday 30 September, logistics agent Sky Group officially opened the doors of its new building in Business Park De President in Hoofddorp. The company now has four times as much space in De President than at its previous premises in Nieuw-Vennep. “We now have the space to grow,” says director Kurt Daris.
Sky Group arranges global transportation, logistics and supply chain optimisation. The company’s large warehouse allows it to efficiently organise storage and handling. As Daris explains, “Sky Group is doing well. We now have 10 employees and some 100 customers in diverse sectors, from textiles to cars and medicines. We really needed to expand.” Their new building has now been constructed in Dirk Storklaan with 544 m² of office space and an 11-metre-high warehouse covering 800 m².
“We think that Business Park De President is an attractive place to do business. It’s a high-quality park, and home to many well-known companies. The park looks fantastic and is maintained to a high standard. The location was also very important to us. It’s right at the heart of the country, close to Schiphol.”
Business park in demand
Local, regional and international companies can all find high-quality location options within this business park (circa 100 hectares in total, with still some 52 hectares available for allocation). Since development started in 2008, around 50 companies of all sizes have moved to the park, including Hikvision, Lexpoint, Staples, Nelson, Master Totaalinrichting and Scotch & Soda. Bicycle tyre specialist Schwalbe Nederland and Royal Textile both needed more space so recently expanded their premises. In addition, construction of the DRT data centre is in full swing. That company will be moving into its new building in De President later this year.
The plots in De President are very much in demand. Only 6.5 hectares of the first phase are still available, and initial talks on allocating sites in phase 2 (10.7 hectares) are already taking place. That the location is just a stone’s throw from the A4 and A5 motorways and Hoofddorp train station certainly plays a role in this, and the park’s appeal is further enhanced by the active high-quality management at De President.
