VDG Real Estate has received the final building permit for VDG Warehouse Schiphol II: a green and modern warehouse at Schiphol Trade Park with a floor area of 10,000 m2. Unibouw will begin construction in May 2021, with the warehouse expected to be delivered at the end of 2021.

VDG Warehouse II will house approximately 10,000 m2 of logistics space, shared across two units. Unit 2 consists of 6,700 m2 and has already been leased to Cavalier Logistics. Unit 1 will feature a 2,514 m2 warehouse plus 359 m2 office space and is still available. The warehouse is located at a central location, just a few minutes from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and visible from the A4 motorway. The warehouse has a green ethos, designed to create space for nature rather than replace it.

Cavalier Logistics is an independent freight forwarder that is an expert in air, sea and road transports as well as logistics projects that require specialist solutions. The design of the unit leased by Cavalier has been customised by VDG Real Estate to meet the specific needs of the company.

Multimodal accessibility

Schiphol Area Development Company (SADC) has big ambitions to put Schiphol Trade Park on the map as the most sustainable business park in Europe. The final design for VDG Warehouse Schiphol II is the result of an intensive collaboration between VDG Real Estate and SADC, and of course it had to meet the highest sustainability and ecological standards. Schiphol Trade Park provides businesses with an environment where sustainability and innovation are combined. Tenants also benefit from a high-profile location next to the A4 motorway – not only is there direct access to the motorway itself, but there is also an undisturbed logistics connection (OLV) to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, the ports of Amsterdam and Rotterdam are within easy reach, and more than 190,000 cars pass this highly visible site every day.

Rob Wijnen, sales manager at SADC, says: “It is fantastic to see such intensive cooperation leading to the realisation of a sustainable, high-quality project. It sets an example for the new Dutch standard for logistics real estate.”

Erik van Dijk, director of VDG Real Estate, adds: “It’s been a new experience for us to work so intensively with the area developer as well as the tenant. But we can see this leads to an innovative end product. Cavalier and SADC have set the bar extremely high and this not only benefits the quality of the area but also our individual developments.”

The leasing of VDG Warehouse Schiphol II is being coordinated by 1530 Real Estate and Colliers.
