Building work has started on VDG Warehouse Schiphol II, a state-of-the-art new-build development by VDG Real Estate at Schiphhol Trade Park. Construction company Unibouw, which is affiliated with VDG Real Estate, is expected to complete the building in the first quarter of 2022. The warehouse is being partially custom-built for tenant Cavalier Logistics.
VDG Warehouse Schiphol II comprises 10,000 m2 of modern logistics space and consists of two units, one of which has already been let to Cavalier Logistics. A unit consisting of 2,517 m2 of warehouse space plus 355 m2 of office space is still available for rent. Key features of the warehouse are its central location, excellent visibility from the A4 motorway, nature-inclusive and sustainable design and high-end construction techniques. Schiphol Airport is a few minutes away and the building has direct access to the A4.
“These specifications make VDG Warehouse Schiphol II the ideal base for an efficient logistics process,” says VDG Real Estate owner Erik van Dijk. “What’s more, VDG Real Estate offers tenants – in this case Cavalier Logistics and an as yet unknown tenant – the opportunity to have input in the design. The earlier in the development process the new tenant is known, the more closely we are able to tailor the premises to their wishes and requirements.”
The new development is located at Schiphol Trade Park, which has the ambition to be the most sustainable and innovative business park in Europe. The focus therefore lies on green energy, the reuse of materials, sustainable mobility, and the sustainable use of water. Companies at Schiphol Trade Park not only have to meet sustainability standards, but also high aesthetic requirements in areas such as nature inclusivity, biodiversity, ecology and surroundings. The green look of the buildings is the new standard at the business park.
Cavalier Logistics, which is part of Reibel Air Freight Holding B.V., is to lease 6,800 m2 of commercial space, including an office and a mezzanine. Founded in the Netherlands in 1986, Cavalier Logistics has grown to become a global player in the field of air and sea freight, road transport and logistics management.
David Mulder, CEO of Cavalier Logistics, says: “As an innovative, dynamic and fast-growing freight forwarder, Cavalier is pleased to take this next step in further professionalising our logistics services to our customers, including further opportunities for growth in the pharmaceutical market and supply management. Alongside VDG, we are proud of the building’s design, layout and finish. It’s a great match for our ambitions for the future.”
